3. Canadian Government no longer claims that seals threaten the cod fish stocks.
It is impossible to understand what this has to do with the continuation of the seal hunt. Is the Bundestag saying it is only acceptable to kill animals when they are endangering another species? If this is the case then what is there excuse for killing almost 1,500,000 deer and 500,000 wild boar annually?
4. Numerous alternatives for seal pelts and other products.
There are many alternatives to driving fossil fuel consuming automobiles. Is the German parliament banning these vehicles? There are many alternatives to leather and suede. Is the German parliament banning these products? There are many alternatives to coal. Is the German parliament banning its use in the Ruhr? The answer is no on all accounts. To make such a statement is nothing short of moronic.
5. German and EU diplomatic interventions have not persuaded Canada to outlaw the seal hunt.
Why should the Canadian government outlaw the seal hunt when there is nothing wrong with it? What gives Germany the right to ask us to outlaw the seal hunt when they have hunts for different animals that take up to five times as many animals annually? It would appear there is no limit to the level of hypocrisy the German Bundestag is willing to exude. Countries worldwide should take notice of this decision. What hypocritical demands can we expect in the future?
