Thirdly, when someone generalizes about a group of people it could be construed as racist and when Ms. Aldworth paints the Newfoundland people with a broad brush of generalizations it is extremely loathsome. It is one thing to say that a select group within a population does something you don't like but then to turn around and say that all Newfoundlanders think this or they think that is just plain ignorant. What gives her the right to prance about on some fantastical moral high ground speaking as through she is an authority of how Newfoundlanders think? No one has the right to generalize on how a people think. This being said, I have recently discovered that she is not a Newfoundlander. I think someone needs to explain to her that just because someone spends some time somewhere does not make them from there.

I would end with a point that I have tried to make repeatedly in this site because I feel the integrity of the supporters and non-partisan of the seal hunt greatly out wieghs the integrity of those like Ms. Aldworth. The World Conservation Union does not oppose the seal hunt. They are the world's largest and most important conservation network. The Union brings together 82 States, 111 government agencies, more than 800 non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and some 10,000 scientists and experts from 181 countries in a unique worldwide partnership. The Union's mission is to influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable. The World Conservation Union is a multicultural, multilingual organization with 1000 staff located in 62 countries. Its headquarters are in Gland, Switzerland.

The World Conservation Union finds the seal hunt acceptable but then again they are not making any money off it.
